Decorating for a Green Christmas

Being environmentally responsible is an important part of every person’s life. The earth is a living organism that is effected by the choices that each individual person makes. During a time of year when people celebrate love and exchange gifts, it important to give back to the world that sustains every human being.

There are many ways that a person can ensure that they have a successful green Christmas. The center piece of every Christmas is the Christmas tree. In centuries past, Christmas trees were taken from random forests without regard to the consequences. Nowadays, it is understood that these types of practices are unsustainable. When one tree is cut another must be planted to take its place, otherwise the forest would be barren after only a few decades. Some Christmas celebrators choose a fake tree so that it can last multiple years. Although this may seem like a more environmentally friendly idea, they must remember to check with the manufacturer and see if the tree is biodegradable.

One technology that has made leaps and bounds in regards to having a green Christmas is artificial lighting. Lights used for decoration used to be the same as those found throughout the house. This meant that they also used the same amount of power as all of the other lights. Not only was this a waste of electricity but it also served as a fire hazard. It is estimated that a tree can set fire within a few minutes if exposed to too much heat. Luckily, today most decorative lights are LEDs. These lights use a minimum amount of power and do not produce excessive heat. This leads to more cost effective lighting that is safer for the family and environment.

Not only should your decor for the Christmas season be green. You should make all your gifts environmentally friendly. Surprisingly, there are many options out there. Protect the environment and give an awesome gift to your loved ones at the same time. Green gifts will show that you really love the environment and your closest friends and family members!

It is important to understand all of the technology now available to make Christmas a time of celebration that does not cause undo suffering on the environment. This is a responsibility of every celebrator of this great season.

However, many people working on a budget believe that their dream home is out of their range. The good news is that there are actually a number of ways that you can save big on home decorating.

Furniture and decorate catalogs are an exceptional place to get inspiration. You will find beautifully staged rooms, and homes that look so inviting! The problem of course is that those rooms come at a price. Flip through those magazines, and discover what it is you really like about your favorite rooms. Most people know to look for items that are on sale when they’re decorating, but many people don’t realize that sales are seasonal. Design, Art, and Fashion with the Environment in Mind

Protecting the environment is an important and all encompassing job, but there are many simple ways we can help out and preserve the world around us. I love to decorate and think about fashion while minimizing my carbon footprint. Fashion is a colossal market with so many distinct styles, accessories and designers. If you love shopping for clothes, and enjoy the artistic statements you make with them, why not do so while changing the world too? You can make a conscious decision to choose better clothing options so that you can stay in style while minimizing your environmental impact.

One way to help benefit the environment as well as your pocketbook, is to recycle old garments in to new ones. This can be done by shopping at thrift stores, flea markets and your local Salvation Army. You never know what you can find for dirt cheap, and though things may not fit well, you can have them altered or even alter them yourself. Browsing thrift stores is a great way to salvage old clothes for everyday wear or even special events like Halloween. Altering your own clothes in your closet that you don’t wear very often is also a good way to bring more use value to your wardrobe. When you’re not out buying new clothes and are reusing and recycling older ones, you’re helping the environment and preventing waste.

Another way to embrace eco fashion is by buying clothing from reputable designers who make eco-friendly clothes. There are a lot of designers and companies who make clothing out of organic and recycled materials. If you’re vegan or want to opt for cruelty free fashion, there are also many brands which don’t sell leather or silk. The website ecofashionworld.com is a shopping guide which showcases all the latest trends in eco fashion. You can use it and similar websites to find clothing that’s beneficial to the environment without compromising your sense of style or taste level

Many designers even donate a percentage of their profits to charitable organizations. With a bit of research, you can find the best merchants who cater to customers with an ecological sense of style, and then you can make every fashion decision an environmentally friendly one.

An Artful Approach to Interior Design

Home decorations have never been more fun with art involved. Applying an artful approach to decorating at home makes the whole task exciting and enjoyable especially for people with a natural love for art. If you need ideas to help you start, here are a few things you can apply when decorating your home:

• Vintage is never out of date. Why not bring in your collection of vintage items? You can make a collage out of the collectibles you own. This applies not only to Vintage collections but other items as well such as antique and any unique collection. The collection can be presented in open glass cabinets, tables, and even mounted on the wall like a wall art.

• Transform the old into something new. In relation to vintage antique, even old furniture and items which are stored away can be transformed into useful and artistic pieces inside the home. An old closet can be repainted and redecorated to make it look more modern and sophisticated, for example.

• Homemade art is also timeless. If time is in your hands, you can build tables, chairs, book shelves, cabinets, drawers, and other wooden furniture or ornaments for a more personalized look. Even other items such as rugs, curtains, and other materials can be decorated with paints and colors for added design.

• Personalizing function rooms. In addition to personalizing materials and furniture, function rooms such as the laundry area can make the most out of an artful change. Personalize how it looks with your own style and combination of colors. You’ll never be bored and lazy washing your clothes afterwards, for sure.

• Be distinct. Even odd ideas become distinctly unique and artistic like throw away hardware from old boats. Oddly, these boat items are perfect as kitchen cabinet latches. For example, children always love to make their room unique. If they are fans of the series, you can visit the twilight store and pick up some breaking dawn items for them to decorate their room with. Here’s a good place to get started with a twilight themed bedroom.

• Be local. You can add a local flavor to the way your home looks like. Inside, you can ask an acquaintance to paint a portrait with a theme that matches your residential community area. If you live near a foreign building, like a mosque, you can display a painting of Islamic culture for example.

An artful approach to decorating your home can never run out of ideas. Just release your inner artist inside and you’ll find more concepts and themes for artistically decorating your house.
